Birth Support
My heart lies in family-centred, Mother-led, birth. I offer in-home doula care for women (birthing people) and their families wishing to birth at home.
No two women and no two sessions are the same. This support is always unique to you and your needs. Over 3 prenatal sessions, we will explore the ways in which you desire to birth and how best I can support you. I’ll help fill in the gaps and hear you in your fears or worries. We’ll make a plan for your postpartum so that you have the right team and resources around you, and then I’ll be there each step of the way through labour, birth and onwards.

Postpartum
Planning and investing in postpartum support is an investment in self-care, healing and family support. Postpartum should never be overlooked as less deserving or less important than birth. The fourth trimester is a part of the birth continuum and is extremely important to the health of the mama (and papa) and babe.
Whether you have a normal physiological birth, an episiotomy or caesarean birth, ALL bodies go through a healing phase post-birth and need nutritional nourishment and physical and emotional support.
You can hire me at any stage of pregnancy or postpartum, even months or years after you’ve birthed. My support can be a one-off session or pan over several weeks or months, including bodywork, postpartum-specific meal preparation, and/or a closing ceremony.

Ceremony

A closing ceremony is for anyone who has given birth. You might choose to have a ceremony in your early postpartum, several months or years after you’ve birthed, before you next conceive, or after a pregnancy loss or release.
A closing ceremony has its roots in traditional postpartum practices — this is an honouring, a ritual and ‘holding space’ for the Mother after the tremendous journey and Rite of Passage that is pregnancy and birth. It is a physical, emotional and spiritual ceremony to bring the body back into alignment and the Mother back home to herself.
The ceremony I hold begins with a cuppa and an opportunity for you to share your story of birth, loss, triumph or grief. I use warm postpartum-specific oils to massage your whole body, giving it the love and honouring it deserves before using simple but relaxing bodywork techniques to readjust and release. In the second part of the ceremony, I will weave and wrap you into a soft and safe cocoon to rest, process and integrate… or sleep.

Early Birth
A very real and sad truth of pregnancy and birth is that some women lose their babies or decide it’s right to release their pregnancy early.
In any case, early birth is birth.
Our culture doesn’t support this kind of birth, and many women are left feeling alone, not knowing how to speak about it or not having the proper support.
I offer in-home support for early birth (miscarriage and abortion), through labour and birth or postpartum, as well as belly binding and ceremony to support the healing body.
